MB head shot 1

Welcome to my page! I am the author of historical fiction and short stories for adults and children. Before deciding to write full-time, I taught for over three decades everything from literature to mathematics to conflict resolution to grades six, seven, and eight.

I spent my childhood in the small, friendly community of Fair Haven, New Jersey, where I learned to love people and school. One of my strongest memories is of my mother walking me to the borough library. She was so proud to present me with my very own library card. This started a lifelong enthusiasm for all genres of books.

My children tease that whatever the situation, I claim, “I have a book for that.”

After attending Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) in Glassboro, New Jersey, I combined all my loves by answering the call of Queensland, Australia, where I taught school in the outback community of Mt. Isa. It was one of the most inspirational times of my life.

Upon my return from “Down Under,” I followed my desire for new adventures to Barnwell, South Carolina, where I taught at Guinyard-Butler Middle School for thirty-two years. My enjoyment of new and interesting places has never waned, but I stayed put after meeting the love of my life, Wendy (Wendall) Gibson. Together, we raised three headstrong daughters who are successful in their chosen lives today.

As time went on, my creative spirit cried out for attention, urging me to fulfill a childhood dream of writing stories. At first, I wrote exclusively for children, but expanded my subject matter to adults, giving me the freedom to explore the challenges and struggles of all classes of people.

I passionately believe in the value and dignity of every human being, which has carried me from my classroom to the pages of my books. I now enjoy the quiet life with my husband in rural South Carolina.
